So are you “resisting” if you are on and thereby supporting Facebook?

@TheBiancaDelRio fat-shamed me last night–and I “ate” it up!

No idea why this video is marked explicit content. Unless I’m just a sick freak or somehing! But we had a blast in Manchester last night! London tonight, then Amsterdam, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow next week.

I am not a cat person, but I’d give him some pussy!

I’m not really a rap fan either, but he’s such a sweet guy!

Is Red Cross the best place for Houston donations?

I asked a friend from Houston what the best thing to do if people wanted to help after the flood. He said the best thing was to just donate to the Red Cross. He may well be right.
Then I read this article, which a FB friend posted. I don’t know what the answer is, but I’ve seen other posts urging people to donate to local charities. While some folks have issues with the sometimes sensationalized Huffington Post, this article originally appeared in the well-researched, reader-funder ProPublica, which also regularly furnishes the NY Times with articles. Haiti is not Houston, and one problem that the Red Cross had in Haiti is that they didn’t hire enough people who spoke the language there to be effective. I certainly don’t know how donations to Haiti or Houston are allocated. But if you’re decent enough to help the people of Houston, you may want to do a little research to make sure it does the most good that it can.
An excerpt: “The Red Cross says it has provided homes to more than 130,000 people. But the actual number of permanent homes the group has built in all of Haiti: six.
After the earthquake, Red Cross CEO Gail McGovern unveiled ambitious plans to “develop brand-new communities.” None have ever been built.
Aid organizations from around the world have struggled after the earthquake in Haiti, the Western Hemisphere’s poorest country. But ProPublica and NPR’s investigation shows that many of the Red Cross’s failings in Haiti are of its own making. They are also part of a larger pattern in which the organization has botched delivery of aid after disasters such as Superstorm Sandy. Despite its difficulties, the Red Cross remains the charity of choice for ordinary Americans and corporations alike after natural disasters.”

Celine Dion, activist

True during Katrina and true after Harvey. Our priorities as a country are so screwed up that it takes a Canadian singer to explain where our tax dollars do go, and where they should go.
“How come it’s so easy in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives? We need to serve our country.”

My love letter to the LGBTQ community in @Billboard

For Gay Pride Month, Billboard asked numerous pop culture luminaries to write ‘love letters’ to the LGBTQ community. Below, nightclub DJ and drag icon Lady Bunny shares hers. Read more Pride Month love letters here.

The gay agenda has centered on securing LGBT equal rights, which of course we deserve. Slogans like “Love Is Love” seek to show that gay love is not second to the love felt by straights. While I agree with that, there are some characteristics of the gay community which are unique to us, and those should be celebrated. For example, I once went to DJ at a club a few days after New Year’s Eve and noticed that the bouncers were all banged up with bandages, casts and bruises. I asked, “What on earth happened?” and they told me there had been a brawl.

Of course, on paper I know what a brawl is — it’s when a fight starts and others join in. Call me a sissy, but when I see a fight, the last thing I want to do is join them. I’m more likely to leave the club, cross the street or whatever. That’s a trait I think I share with most LGBT people. Many of us have experienced bullying and/or violence ourselves so we tend to frown on it. We typically don’t see physical harm as entertainment when it happens to others. We certainly don’t jump in. That’s a tendency in my community which makes us seem more evolved in that respect. And after scratching my head over that New Year’s Eve brawl, I felt very proud of a community which is less prone to acting on herd instincts which propel us towards fighting.

We’re also pretty damn good at theater, writing, activism, nursing, cooking, styling, dancing and throwing parties! We have a lot going on in spite of the struggles we’ve faced.

Granny is a hoot with her potty-mouthed vegan cake recipe!

She’s so cute. And while I’m one of those who sometimes giggles at hipsters and their special diets, I come from a family of vegetarians. And meat and animal products are one of the largest contributors to global warming. So we laugh, and then maybe some of us will start thinking along these lines?

Bravo, Oliver Stone!

I know nothing about this man’s work and I care nothing for the award ceremonies. I also know and care nothing about when you think decorum dictates the proper time for political speeches is. (Please try and tell the hundreds of thousands who died needlessly in Iraq about decorum.) But I recognize the truth when I hear it. And we don’t often hear it much on the news these days, so maybe it has to be heard from awards shows and art galleries and protests.
We have only two parties in this country. Neither one of them is remotely interested in peace. So neither one has my vote. Wanna talk about how the two parties differing approach to health care? We could have free healthcare without paying higher taxes if 1/2 of our tax dollars didn’t pay for more war. Do you hear either party saying we should pay for our own health instead of bombing other countries to death? Bernie Sanders, who I sort of trust, is now on a tour talking about the thousands who will die if Trumpcare is passed. Does even he talk about the hundreds of thousands we pay to kill when he’s not campaigning? Thank you, Oliver Stone! Your honesty and compassion have just made you a new fan in me.
